The Flame Detector

Forge Industries is a small company with a big idea. Forge identified an opportunity in the home safety and security market for a product that would detect a fire far sooner than current smoke detectors.

The Flame Detector constantly monitors for the presence of a flame wherever it is located in your home. The moment the wide angle sensor detects a flame you are alerted by an audible alarm and the smart phone App.

 

Collaborative Development

Working in tandem with the company president and an international team of software and electronics engineers our role was to develop the styling, user interface and mechanical design of the product enclosure and the retail package structure.  Two versions of the product were developed. A basic version that will detect a flame and a Pro version that will detect the presence of a human.

Details Make a Difference

The Flame Detector is designed to look different than a smoke alarm or carbon monoxide detector. The fabric face of the unit allows for a range of options that can be tailored to any home decor.  The detector uses magnets embedded in the rear of the housing to attach to a small metal bracket. The bracket allows horizontal, vertical and angled mounting configurations. The product is equally at home on a book shelf or mantle.
